Reviving an historic district garden
For the three entrances at this site with soil toxicity problems, berms were built to provide a zone of clean soil and to avoid the fibrous feeding roots of the Norway maples. The pallet for the deep shade of these entrances is mostly native, woodland understory plants and woodland ephemerals.
